Hello, my name is Dakota and I'm a senior computer science and statistics major. My favorite things to do are dance, play video games, sing badly, and watch TV/movies. I've had a tiny bit of experience with html/css due to my obession with tumblr in middle school, and can't wait to see how much my knowledge grows this semester! It will be nice to learn it for a practical, real world purpose rather than just making my Tumblr blog pretty.
Roblox is a video game in which the users create the games. You can either make your own game, or you can play the thousands of other games created by other players. There is a social aspect as well, you can become friends with other users, and there are groups that you can join with many different interests. My favorite types of games are tycoon games.
Twitch is a site that you can create streams, or watch the streams yourself. It was mostly gaming at the beginning, but has since grown into many other topics, for example, there are a lot of streamers that play live music. I mostly watch the video game streamers though. There is also a "chat" that allows users to converse with the streamer, tip them, or subscribe for added benefits.
Disney+ is a streaming service that allows you to watch Disney's immense catalog. There is everything from old classics, to brand new shows made specifically for the platform. Disney also owns National Geographic, so there are many documentaries too. I love a lot of Disney shows as well as franchises (i.e. Marvel, Star Wars, etc.), so I love being able to access Disney's content!
TikTok is a brief video sharing app where users can make videos up to 3 minutes long. Users can like, comment, and share other's videos. There is content that caters to all users as TikTok uses an algorithm that leanrs your interests to be able to show you content you would like. There is also a website for the app, though I usually use my phone.
YouTube is a site that users can share videos and watch shared videos. There are likes and comments that add a social to the site as well. My favorite kind of YouTube videos are makeup videos (tutorials, special effects, reviews, etc.), video game walkthroughs, and just about anything that I could later use in trivia/as a fun fact I know (I like learning random things).
